We were up in Napa wine tasting and we didn't want a long, drawn out lunch, so we decided to go to Taylor's. While we'd been to the San Francisco outpost of this burger joint too many times to count, we'd never been to the original. The food was just as good (and expensive) as the San Francisco location, but the menu had fewer items. Taylor's is the perfect place for a low-key burger and glass of great wine. The quaint atmosphere of the St. Helena location was really great. It was a beautiful day and we took advantage of the plentiful, shaded picnic tables on a grassy lawn while eating our greasily delicious food. Beer Battered...

Because it was such a beautiful day, we headed to the Ferry Building to Taylor's for some expensive but yummy burgers in the sun. Chili Dog $5 Covered with chili and cheese, this dog looked better than it tasted. The dog itself was cheap supermarket qualty and the chili had too many beans. Double Bacon Cheeseburger, No Bun, Extra Special Sauce $12 This is the first time Alexis opted for the double and she won't attempt it again. It was very good, but just too much burger for her stomach. Blue Cheese Bacon Ring Burger $8 This burger is topped not only with bacon and cheese, but also with a fat, crispy, beer-battered onion ring. ...

Lunch at Taylor's Automatic Refresher, San Francisco, CA
It was such a nice day today that we headed to the Ferry Building for a lunch in the sun. Bacon Cheeseburger $8 A very tasty burger. Double Bacon Cheeseburger $12 Same as above, but twice as big.

Taylor’s Automatic Refresher is a rather well-known burger joint that offers an upgraded version of fast food fare. The original location in St. Helena has been around for at least 50 years, but there is a second location in the posh foodie-haven of the Ferry Building on San Francisco’s Embarcadero.

Bacon Cheeseburger. Expensive, but tasty. Their "special sauce", which seems like thousand island with relish and mustard mixed in is pretty good.

Well, it's been awhile since I last wrote up any reviews. After a wonderful warm day in Los Angeles and a fierce hot days in Pasadena I'm wondering why we still don't have the summers out here.

Taylor's Refresher is one of my favorite spots to eat at when traveling around Napa Valley. Who can resist great burgers, fries, and shakes? And consider the atmosphere: picnic tables, umbrellas, grass, a white picket fence, and a string of light bulbs hanging overhead. I always feel like I'm at a church picnic somewhere in the South. Well, at least that's what I think those picnics are like.

I have been on a serious burger binge for the last month or so. Having visited Big Mouth Burger the other week, I was excited in trying another contender for 'make jasons stomach happy with a burger'. We have gotten some requests for Taylors Refresher on the Embarcadero in San Francisco.

The Taylor's Automatic Refresher is a frustrating restaurant with it's inconsistency. Sometimes you go there and you get a solid burger, meaty and juicy. Other times you get a small piece that's overdone. The cost of it would be worth it, if they were consistently good, but we've been bitten too many times to give any sort of rousing endorsment.

At Taylor's Refresher in the Ferry Building at the start of Market Street, you can order a rare, ahi tuna burger. This big one is slathered with wasabi-ginger mayo, and has chopped pieces of greens thrown on top of it. I ordered the ahi tuna burger, fries, and a medium coke, which came out to the tune of $18.23.

After some serious pampering up at Indian Springs in Calistoga the last few days, and a very decadent dinner at the Martini House in St. Helena, we were in need of some down-home delicious grub. Besides, we needed a good solid foundation for an afternoon of wine tasting down the Silverado Trail.

Such is the curse of having a boyfriend with an unadventurous palate. Christmas shopping at San Francisco's Ferry Building we found ourselves to be peckish and in need of some quick nourishment.

The original Taylor's is in St. Helena, on the side of the road. It is quite possibly the nicest hamburger stand in the world. They've got a gorgeous lawn with huge picnic tables in back, and the friendly staff will even bring your order out to you. And man, is the food good. Besides the expected burgers, Taylor's has fish tacos, corndogs, chicken sandwiches (and fingers), garlic fries and super thick shakes made with Double Rainbow ice cream. It is a challenge not to stop when in Napa, even when your dinner reservation at Martini House is only a half an hour in the future.

Nino and I met Jen Beckman at the wine bar at the Ferry Plaza after work. We hadn't seen Jen in a while and it was nice to catch up before school starts again. I'll have to ask Nino the name of the wine he had because it was the best of the few we tasted; it was a New Moon Shiraz or something like that.
