It was our friend's birthday, so we took him out for a late lunch at Town Hall, a semi-upscale place that's home to the best burger. Seafood Chowder $8 Smooth, creamy and chock full of seafood, we were pleasantly surprised by this soup. Bacon Cheese Burger $13 An expensive burger, but a tasty one. Although, it wasn't as tasty as we'd remembered it. Maybe we need to do another burger survey... Ratings: Food: 2 Service: 1 Decor: 2 Town Hall 342 Howard Street San Francisco, CA 94105

I’ve read reviews that say Town Hall is not the kind of place you should go for an intimate date, HOWEVER, I contend that anyone who takes me on a date here is a superstar!

This SF hotspot is coming up on three years in business, and it's still roaring like a popular newcomer on the scene. Some of my favorite mid-level restaurants execute a continuity of concept in almost every detail, a quality that is more common at higher-end restaurants; it's something I acutely feel at Range, and Quince, and most definitely at ~TOWN HALL~. Everything feels considered, from the embossed menu upon your arrival to the check arriving in a book at the end of your meal.

We decided to try out Town Hall today. It constantly listed on the most booked list on opentable.com, so we decided to try it out. The decor was an odd melange of styles. It combined the simple brick of the building, beautiful, spidery chandeliers, home-y style touches like an old country butcher block, and art-deco pieces. Each style was very well done, but the combination didn't gel. The open kitchen looks out on to the bar, wait station and the large noisy dining room.

A and I went to the Town Hall for our 1st year anniversary. Inside the red brick restaurant on Howard and Fremont, the closely packed dark wooden tables made examining your neighbors dishes prior to making your own selections so much easier. :) The industrial-looking chandelier made for an interesting conversation piece. I liked the feel of the place. The controled hubbub of random conversations, the dark warm interior, and candles on the windowsills all contributed to the genral coziness of the place.

I went for a nice lunch at Town Hall with my mom and Auntie Maggie. I had a nice time there on a past trip with my dad (here). Town Hall won Best New Restaurant for 2004 from San Francisco Magazine, and has gotten some pretty good pub. The space is bright and relaxed, and there's a big communal table near the entrance that is reserved for walk-ins if you don't have a reservation. We got a table near the back of the room that got tons of natural light from the tall windows. The food is mainly classic American stuff with new twists and some Creole influence thrown in. Also, the desserts are great.

I recently went to Town Hall, a restaurant that was chosen by San Franciscans as their favorite new restaurant* last year. Here's the thing, going to Town Hall is not just a dining experience. Town Hall serves fine food, but it really excels at vibe. From bartender to hostess to waiter to chef, you get the feeling everyone who works there is having a good time and glad to be there. The result is a little bit of a party every night.

We got to Townhall a bit early for our 8:00 reservation, enough time to appreciate the decor, order a drink and see what Townhall had to offer in the Sidecar category. Conclusion: Unusual in that it was made with Calvados and a bit of apple juice, generally good but a bit too sweet. Chris’s Sazerac (whiskey, sugar and two types of bitters) was very tasty, like a spicy fruit cake but not sweet. Once my sister Erin and brother-in-law Gary got there, they generously treated us to a delicious bottle of Laurent-Perrier Cuvée Rosé Brut, which was beautiful and dry and with some strawberry fruitiness.

You might think my mother is evil as you read this post. Actually, she is very kind, but she's had her evil moments. Tricking my sister and me into eating rabbit was one of them. As kids we were fussy eaters (me, more so than my sister), and of course we loved little fluffy bunnies, so why would agree to eat one?

Sorry about the lack of updates... Mike doesn't have a router so I couldn't hook my computer up. I just got to Hong Kong, and we got the connection working here. Here is Town Hall, which recently won awards in San Francisco Magazine.
