I love spending an afternoon at Ritual Coffee Roasters. Fresh, smooth gourmet coffee served in large glass cups. Cute milk patterns for a special touch on their lattes (shown above). Comfy couches and plenty of tables. Internet access. What more could you really want from a cafe in SF? I'm heading off to NYC for a week, and I'll definitely return with stories of my eating adventures in the Big Apple!

A friend called this place on Valencia "what you would create for a movie if you were trying to depict a hip, San Francisco coffee house". For this reason, and for the reason that it's in the Mission, if any of the regulars here knew that I mentioned it in the same blog as The Grove, they sneer at me and key my car. But the truth is, this place has the best coffee (french press) of any place I can think of. The coffee is not just fancy and strong, but truly, truly good. Pile onto that a very hip interior, great people watching, free internet, and these pastries called "dirt bombs" and you have a general winner.

Ritual Coffee Roasters, Living here just got better
Since so many San Francisco residents are from other states and cities, among any group of friends we all have to deal with someone saying that where they come from the ______ (fill in the blank) is better. From New Yorkers you get the pizza and bagel jibes and from Pacific Northwesterners, you will always hear the heavy sighs about coffee.

I walked into the coffee shop and was struck by how huge the place was. There were tables all along the right side for about 40 feet and leather couches here and there. The stuffed animals hanging on the right side wall were a bit disturbing in a Bride of Chucky sort of way. They're part of an art exhibit that won't be there for long.
